360 Degree Appraisals
We believe that this technique is the most exciting development in the field of performance management. The true value of 360 degree appraisals is that they expose the nature of our behaviour within the context of working relationships. They challenge us to accept that we may behave differently to different people. In essence, feedback is obtained on an individual from peers, subordinates and the individual’s manager. This approach fits comfortably into the latest trends in leadership and strategies such as empowerment, self-responsibility and teamwork. The data is normally collected through the completion of questionnaires either in paper or electronic format. A report is produced for each individual which summarises the ratings given by the individual and their colleagues and provides the basis for subsequent discussion as well as identifying training and development needs. |
